Brief Overview of UUFF
The
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Flagstaff (UUFF) is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association
(www.uua.org) - a worldwide liberal religious movement with roots going back several centuries. The essence of this movement is to encourage the development of personal theology combined with social activism to work for the better.
Our
Fellowship was founded in 1958 and currently has about 150 members. We offer two worship services on Sunday, the first at 9:15 and the second at 11:00. Our Sunday services are both minister- and lay-led and deal with topical issues that affect our lives and the development of our religious framework.
We
offer religous education for children and adults as well as a broad variety of social, recreational, and spiritual growth activities.
Our
adult choir is open to all. It rehearses weekly with the choir director and accompanist, and performs one Sunday each month.
We Are a "Welcoming Congregation"
Believing in our inherent worth and mutual interdependency, Unitarian Universalism (UUism) is deeply rooted in social justice as a direct expression of our faith. On June 1, 2008, our congregation voted unanimously to become a "Welcoming Congregation." This is a UUA designation for congregations that have gone through an awareness-raising, education and action process to become more inclusive, understanding and accepting of people with different sexual orientations. People who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender are welcome at UUFF.
